Tia Forsman was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. She graduated from Brown University in May 2019 with degrees in both Visual Art and Health and Human Biology and completed a honors thesis in Visual Art. As a student in Brown’s Program in Liberal Medical Education, she then graduated from the Warren Alpert Medical School in May of 2023. She then relocated to Los Angeles where she worked as a surgical intern at Harbor UCLA Medical Center followed by Interventional Radiology residency at Keck USC + LA General Medical Center. Her dual interest in medicine and art is the anchoring force that manifests itself in her work. During a semester abroad at King’s College London, she focused this dual interest by shadowing physicians and studying the intersections between the humanities and medicine. While she is deeply committed to her own art practice, she believes strongly in the healing power of creative expression and strives to share those healing moments with her community. Forsman has shown her paintings widely in Providence, RI, at the List Art Center, the Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts, the Bell Gallery, and the Brown University Science Center.
